What is Staking? — NodeOps Glossary
Staking — Under Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchains, staking is the locking of tokens to support blockchain operations. Validators must stake set amounts of the native token to validate new transactions and add new blocks. The stake is slashed if the validator fails to build legitimate blocks, ensuring only valid data is added. Validators are rewarded with the native token for successfully adding new blocks.
